I Don’t Think You’re Fat…

I Don’t Think You’re Fat…

Good morning my peoples! I am checking in from sunny Maine today where the landscapes are gorgeous, the seafood is plentiful, and the nostalgia (for me) is urrrrwhere!

I wanted to create this post for a couple different but related reasons: to let you in on what I’ve been up to in creating my new business venture, and to be totally transparent about my intentions in doing so.

As some of you may know, I have decided to become a health coach with Beachbody! This is the same great company that puts out super quality and effective workout programs like P90X, Insanity, T25, Hip Hop Abs, 21 Day Fix, etc. etc. the list goes on and on, in case any stand out to you as familiar! You may have seen the infomercials for some of these as your morning news program fades away into daytime television. You may have tried and/or completed a few of these programs in the past in which case, I’d especially like to talk with you about your experience!

Beachbody offers products such as workout gear, clothing, nutritious supplements and the superfood Shakeology that offers more benefits than I can count.

….But this is not the time or place for me to be touting all the benefits of Shakeology, though there are many, as I am writing this to just get some main points across first and foremost!

I have tried a few Beachbody programs in the past and for all you P90X-ers who did the original and might be thinking, “but those workouts were super long…”, and I would like to say that these programs have come a long way since then! Those workouts were effective, yes, but they were very long – more than what I personally had time for often. The newer class of workouts (and there are a ton – over 600 to be exact!) with upbeat coaches are total body, 30-45 minutes, and can be done anywhere with the new streaming app that Beachbody released in December of 2016 which is pretty freakin’ awesome. It really does make working out fun and easy to do; all a person really needs is the right mindset and support.

Which is where I come in.

I have tried, I have failed, I have quit, I have fallen off the wagon and gotten back on, just like probably everyone. But that’s okay. Failure is just a launching point for growth and success, am I right?

I remember all the reasons why I may have let myself quit in the past, or the excuses that I have used to talk myself out of it.

I have arrived at the reasoning of, why wouldn’t I want to make my health a priority?

With cigarettes and alcohol and laziness and what have you, I had pushed it to the side.

My husband had made more strides for sure in kicking some of these habits and focusing on health and working out, and I decided to join him.

For lots of reasons.

Because we are bringing a little human into the world this year and we want him to know that, in every way, there are good and bad decisions to be made, and you have the choice to choose which route you’d rather take. But we want to be the examples showing that in health, we aim to make the best ones as often as possible. This isn’t to say we don’t enjoy dessert and indulgences every once in a while, and that’s okay too. If you know us, you know we enjoy our sweets! You have to let yourself be you instead of restricting everything you love at the same time.

Because these programs really are fun and they really do work, and who wouldn’t want to try them all while having people they love and respect join them?

Because I like to help people, and in making the shift toward health and fitness and nutrition, most people plain and simple need help. And that’s okay! Making it a way of life and a topic of conversation and a fun thing to do is just a matter, again, of being in the right mindset, and just simply bringing the focus to the forefront in your life.

Because I like to challenge myself and learn new things in topics that interest me especially. Nutrition is a science of itself and I get to constantly learn more about it, and new ways to approach it, and how certain things can affect people’s bodies, and put that to use every single day. A core foundation of Beachbody is personal development where you are encouraged to carve time out of every day to better yourself through learning, and this is truly something I can get behind. Even if it’s just 15 minutes, listening to a podcast, reading a book, learning a new tactic or hobby, that is all personal development.

This is all about being the best you that you can be.

I don’t care if it sounds cheesy, and plenty of you are probably thinking that it does, and that’s fine too. But there are no perfect people out there, whatever “perfect” actually means, and everyone can benefit from the things that Beachbody offers, really and truly.

So on that note, if any of this interests you, reach out to me! Let’s talk. We’ve all been there. There is no starting point except simply being open to a new thing.

I may also be reaching out to you, because why wouldn’t I want you to join me?

Why wouldn’t I want my most trusted friends and family to work with me in a judgement free zone and start a fun new thing together?

Why wouldn’t I want to be surrounded by you guys so we can support and learn from each other in beginning this mindset shift?

I have reached out to a few people to get started, and one person said (jokingly, I think) “thanks for saying I’m fat and drink too much and smoke too many cigarettes!”

Y’all.

I am not doing this or pinpointing anybody because I think they’re fat!

This benefits people who are of all walks of life! I myself have spent a lot of time drinking “too much” and smoking too many cigarettes. For years, I have done this; y’all know me. Smoking is not a healthy decision, but I’m not sitting here judging anyone for it.

I wish we’d all stop, of course, simply because it leads to health problems, and if I weren’t pregnant, I may very well still be in this group. But that’s not why I’m here. I don’t choose your goals for you; that is all up to you, and only you! I just help you get there.

I’m here and coming to you because we are close, and I trust you, and you trust me. I want my trusted peeps to be around me as I make some personal changes, but because these things are actually fun and beneficial to dive into, I want to share it with my inner circle, too.

Why not?!

I can’t really think of any reasons why not except just not wanting to. And that’s your decision which you have a perfect right to all the same!

I just want to clarify that I want to share this thing with the people, my favorite people, who would use it, who would like it, who enjoy a challenge, who don’t know where to start, who have any little piece of interest in what I have to offer whatsoever, because why not?

I don’t want anyone to take offense, to feel pressured or uncomfortable so please know, that is never my intent.

I just want you to join me because I happen to enjoy what you bring to the table as well as I think this could benefit you. I think it could benefit all of us.

But I am starting with you.

It all starts with you. 🙂

I am also starting a Facebook page to be in tune with Beachbody happenings, with my progress, with fun tid bits, whatever I want to post that normally has to do with positivity and motivation or things that make me laugh. Only now it will have a healthy, fitnessy twist.

The Silver Linings Slaybook – so be on the lookout 😉

I chose this name because I think it’s important to be positive, to look for the silver lining, to know that things are achievable if you put your mind to it and believe it. I want it to serve as a place of guidance where I can post helpful info and just be inspirational in the only ways I know how. Who doesn’t like to end the day thinking, “I had a super productive day today and I slayed it.”

I also want to organize a challenge group in June to bring people together as we all try something new, because in this business, no one walks through alone! Y’all know me, I like to cook and share recipes and tid bits anyway, so this is a perfect outlet to do this while presenting you with a new opportunity as well.

I’ll be here anyway, doing my thang, keeping calm and carrying on.

Now, who wants to join me?

“Day one, or one day… you decide.”
