To elevate the workout and push your fitness to the next level, Shaun throws in a quick hit of high-intensity INSANITY-style intervals to spike your heart rate (there’s a modifier showing a low-impact option in every workout so don’t worry, no matter your fitness level, you CAN do this!). And because this is a complete package, Shaun includes 2 Dumbbell Resistance workouts per week, set to rhythm, so you can build muscular endurance and tone from head to toe while grooving to a beat.

And for the first time ever, the workouts include onscreen visual cues called Cameos that help you see what’s coming next. No matter how uncoordinated you may think you are, you can learn these dance moves and get great results. Super helpful!

And then there’s the music. LET’S GET UP! features everything from pop to hip-hop, swing, musical theater, Latin, rock, and even island grooves (what whatttt!). You’ll go crazy for the variety as you turn up the celebration with every workout. There are even tracks written in Spanish and French. My review

Okay, as I write this, I am two days into the program officially, but I have tried several different workouts over the past couple weeks and want to tell you the pros and cons in my opinion!

PROS:

The workout structure! The typical workout looks a little something like this: you start with a warm up AKA dance conditioning to get that body mobile and in the groove, and once you start to really feel it in your legs, Shaun T. takes it up a notch by leading you into the Tone and Tighten segment. You go through a boomerang if you will of exercises, higher energy pulses at first followed by a more “tightened up” isometric version of the same set which will have your legs feeling MAD strong (and very warm) by the end. Then you’ll be so grateful to give your legs a break and begin learning the dance moves in two groups of four. Im’ma go on record right now saying that if Shaun T. doesn’t have you shakin yo booty by the end of this then I honestly don’t know who will!

Next you’ll switch it up and hit a heart rate spike with the INSANITY moment — 3 rounds of cardio exercises that are really where I notice my waterworks turn on every day and the sweat starts to pour. I literally sweat so much doing these but I love it because I feel like my pores get cleaned out and I’m getting hella worked, even if it feels more like fun than work! Once the quick INSANITY segment is over, you’ll go back into five rounds of stacked choreography meaning the 8 moves you learned earlier are now in a stacked sequence. Each round you build a little more energy into the moves until the last round has you feeling like your next Tik Tok dance video is about to be litty titty — for real.

In case you’re like, “ahhhh! How could I possibly remember 8 moves in a row?” — you don’t have to!

Because of the Cameo — this is a pre-recorded demo segment that pops up in the bottom right of the screen showing you which move is coming up and it totally comes in handy! I would be lost without it too. In fact sometimes I’m still a little lost… but I just smile and keep on boppin’.

Because on that note…

It’s just really about having fun! Being happy. Spreading the joy. Expressing yourself and moving your body in ways you didn’t even know you could. I love that I can look up on the screen and see that every single one of the cast members completely moves in their own ways. They are all doing the same moves of course, but they each do it with their own flair which is subtle though obvious at the same time. It serves as a constant reminder to me that there is no pressure to be perfect or to know what I’m doing because if I can show up and just feel the music and the joy, then I’m doing it right. I literally just show up to have fun, and Shaun brings me through the workout part. Judging by all the sweat and the way my legs feel some days, I know I’m getting great workouts out of it!

Y’all, it’s SO FUN. I wasn’t even sure I was really a believer in dance fitness and how you could get so much done in just 30-35 minutes a day with minimal equipment.

The resistance workouts bring a totally fun style to all of this. They are twice a week and introduce some upper body work in the form of weight training. Because the program is dance fitness, there is no get up and get down on the floor type of work — everything is standing core and body work. These two weight lifting days will give more of a toning focus to the upper body while also bringing you compound movements. This means more muscles get worked per exercise and you’ll feel it in places you didn’t know you hit the next day! He sticks with the same workout structure so you’ll hit the Tone and Tighten and Insanity Moments in these too.

It’s short and sweet — workouts are 30-35 minutes each, and the full program is only 30 days. This is the perfect graduation step from your typical 3 week starter program. It’s a great length for anyone to go all in because you can absolutely give yourself just one month to focus on your well-being and show yourself what’s possible!

Even if you needed more for the day, there are 10-15 minute bonus workout add-ons available for you too.

And last but not least, I’m obsessed with all this positive energy — Shaun T. is a just a whole damn vibe, I swear! From the entire cast’s outfits, to Shaun’s inputs, to his booty shakes, to the Hawaiian scenery, to the beats, body rolls, body positivity and joyful self-expression — it’s truly a light for me every single day.

I get to dance every morning as high energy as I want to while feeling sexy, learning all these fun new moves, and getting an amazing full workout out of it?

I have no cons. My expectations were blown away!
